GRNMA BONO - AHAFO REGION TRAINS 91 NURSES AS VACCINE CHAMPIONS

One day Training of Vaccine Champions ended with renewed zeal and energy to champion vaccine Advocacy in Ghana. The training was held on Wednesday 14th September, 2022 at the GRNMA Secratariat. 91 Nurses & Midwives from the Bono Region, Bono East and Ahafo Region of Ghana were brought together under the auspices of the GRNMA in partnership with the Ghana Health Service in its bid to support Vaccine Advocacy. The Training was facilitated by Jefferson Kwasi Agbotro: Nurse, GRNMA PRO Sunyani East,  Vaccine Champion Master Trainer & Training Consultant, Haruna: Principle Nursing Officer, Vaccine Champion Master Trainer & Deputy General Secratary GRNMA, BONO - AHAFO Region, Airkins - Health Promotion Officer & Facilitator.  On behalf of the National President of GRNMA, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo, the National PRO welcomed the participants and encouraged them to take advantage of the training and become advocates of vaccine in Ghana in order to support government's efforts of fighting COVID-19. Participants were trained to:

Demonstrate understanding of mode of Transmission of COVID-19 & the effectiveness of infection prevention and control measures in reducing the spread. Identify priorities to support individual's including addressing stigma, reintegration of people diagnosed with COVID-19 into community. Indentify infection prevention control measures in specific situations including appropriate PPE use. Identify the moral burden COVID-19 places on Frontline health workers, including their mental health, describe strategies to maintain health and well-being of health workers. Incorporate psychological first aid to support individuals in distress related to COVID-19. Describe common myths and misconception of COVID-19 vaccine and identify evidence to address misinformation. Demonstrate strategies to address vaccine hesitancy with individuals and community.
